§10154 Retired Reserve

Section 291 of title 14, referred to in par. (1), was redesignated section 2152 of title 14 by Pub. L. 115–282, title I, § 112(b), Dec. 4, 2018, 132 Stat. 4216, and references to section 291 of title 14 deemed to refer to such redesignated section, see section 123(b)(1) of Pub. L. 115–282, set out as a References to Sections of Title 14 as Redesignated by Pub. L. 115–282 note preceding section 101 of Title 14, Coast Guard.

Provisions similar to those in this section were contained in section 274 of this title, prior to repeal by Pub. L. 103–337, § 1661(a)(2)(A).

Authority To Issue Military Identification Cards to So-Called Honorary Retirees of the Naval and Marine Corps Reserves Pub. L. 103–337, div. A, title X, § 1073(d)(1)(E)(i), Nov. 18, 1997, 111 Stat. 1905; Pub. L. 109–163, div. A, title V, § 515(h), Jan. 6, 2006, 119 Stat. 3237, provided that: “(a) Authority.—The Secretary of the Navy may issue a military identification card to a member of the Retired Reserve described in subsection (b). “(b) Covered Members.—A member of the Retired Reserve referred to in subsection (a) is a member of the Navy Reserve or Marine Corps Reserve who transferred to the Retired Reserve under section 274(2) [see 10154(2)] of title 10, United States Code, without having completed the years of service required under section 1331(a)(2) [see 12731(a)(2)] of such title for eligibility for retired pay under chapter 67 [see 1223] of such title or who after November 30, 1994, transferred to the Retired Reserve under section 10154(2) of title 10, United States Code, without having completed the years of service required under section 12731(a)(2) of such title for eligibility for retired pay under chapter 1223 of such title. “(c) Effect on Commissary and Exchange Benefits.—The issuance of a military identification card under subsection (a) to a member of the Retired Reserve does not confer eligibility for commissary and exchange benefits on that member. “(d) Limitation on Color and Format.—The Secretary shall ensure that the color and format in which a military identification card is issued under subsection (a) is not similar to the color and format in which a military identification card is issued by the Department of Defense to individuals other than members described in subsection (b).”
