Defines the main words used in the chapter. The "insurance program" is the Ready Reserve Mobilization Income Insurance Program created by law. "Covered service" is active duty for more than 30 days ordered for a reservist when the order says the duty supports either an operational mission that called up reservists without their consent, or forces activated during a war declared by Congress or a national emergency declared by the President or Congress. "Insured member" is a Ready Reserve member who is signed up for the program. "Secretary" is the Secretary of Defense. "Department" is the Department of Defense. "Board of Actuaries" is the Department of Defense Board of Actuaries. The "Fund" is the Reserve Mobilization Income Insurance Fund created by law.
