Each military department must have at least one lawyer and one doctor on the staff of its service review agency. These people must be permanent, full-time workers and can be military members or civilian employees. They report to the agency’s director or executive director and give advice on legal and medical matters the agency is handling. Service review agency means: Army Review Boards Agency; Navy Council of Personnel Boards and the Board for Correction of Naval Records; and the Department of the Air Force Review Boards Agency.
