Defines key words used in this subchapter. "Defense intelligence position" is any civilian job in the Department of Defense that is an intelligence officer or intelligence employee. "Intelligence component of the Department of Defense" includes the National Security Agency (NSA), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), any other DoD unit the Secretary of Defense names as an intelligence component, and any successor to those units. "Congressional oversight committees" means the Senate Armed Services Committee and Select Committee on Intelligence, and the House Armed Services Committee and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The terms "excepted service," "preference eligible," "Senior Executive Service position," and "collective bargaining agreement" have the meanings given in 5 U.S.C. 2103, 2108(3), 3132(a)(2), and 7103(8), respectively.
