Summary

Under rules set by the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Air Force may name Space Force members on active status as Individual Ready Guardians. Within those Guardians, the Air Force can create a mobilization category whose members can be ordered to active duty without their consent. A member can only be put in that category if they volunteer and are selected by the Secretary of the Air Force based on Space Force needs and the member’s rank and skills. Members cannot stay in that mobilization category more than 24 months after they leave active service. The Secretary of the Air Force will list which ranks and skills are eligible. People in that category get the same non-pay, non-training benefits that similar reservists receive, as decided by the Secretary of Defense.
