If a national-security laboratory or a nuclear-weapons production facility finds a problem that could hurt confidence in a weapon’s safety or reliability, the head must report it to the Administrator right away. Within 10 days the Administrator must send the report, with comments, to the congressional defense committees, the Secretaries of Energy and Defense, and the President, and include it with that year’s section 6117(f) materials.
