Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle B— - Army › Part PART III— - TRAINING › Chapter CHAPTER 751— - TRAINING GENERALLY › § 7422
Lets the Chancellor of the United States Army Armament Graduate School grant degrees when the school's faculty and provost recommend it and students meet the school’s degree rules. The Chancellor must follow rules set by the Secretary of the Army. A degree can only be granted if the Secretary of Education has recommended approval under the Federal Policy Governing Granting of Academic Degrees by Federal Agencies and the school is accredited by the civilian accrediting body the Secretary of Education names. When the Department of Defense wants to start, change, or rename degree authority, the Secretary of Defense must send the Armed Services Committees of the Senate and House copies of the Federal Policy self‑assessment filed with the Department of Education’s National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity, and the Secretary of Education’s recommendations and reasons. The Secretary of Defense must also report to those Committees if an accrediting agency refuses to accredit the school for any degree and explain why.
