Summary

When an officer finishes serving as Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy, the Secretary of the Navy must retire that officer under whatever part of chapter 841 they qualify for. The Secretary of Defense can set aside that retirement for good cause. If that happens, the Secretary must send a written notice to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees saying why and saying the President plans to nominate the officer for a new job. Any such nomination must be approved by the Senate.
