Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle C— - Navy and Marine Corps › Part PART III— - EDUCATION AND TRAINING › Chapter CHAPTER 853— - UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY › § 8451b
Creates a director of admissions for the Naval Academy. The President must appoint the director and the Senate must approve. The director does the tasks the Superintendent gives, if the Secretary of the Navy agrees. The director normally holds the rank of commander (Navy) or lieutenant colonel (Marine Corps). The director is promoted to captain (Navy) or colonel (Marine Corps) on the earlier of two dates: after six years as director, or the date they would have been promoted if picked from the promotion zone. The President can also assign a higher‑ranked Navy or Marine officer to do the job temporarily without changing that officer’s place on the active‑duty list.
