Creates a Chief of Chaplains for the Air Force and the Space Force who is chosen by the President with Senate approval. The person must be an Air Force officer officially listed as a chaplain, on active duty, and have at least eight years of active-duty service as a chaplain. The term is three years, but the President can end or extend it anytime. Duties come from the Secretary of the Air Force and from law. Under rules approved by the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Air Force must pick someone recommended by a board that, as much as practical, follows the procedures used for other military selection boards under chapter 36. While serving, the Chief of Chaplains holds the rank of major general.
