Creates an Inspector General for the Department of the Air Force. The Secretary must pick a general officer from the Air Force or the Space Force. The job term is no more than four years, but the Secretary can extend it if they find an extension is needed in the public interest. The Inspector General may have deputies and assistants chosen by the Secretary, each also an Air or Space Force officer assigned for up to four years under rules the Secretary sets. When ordered by the Secretary, the Air Force Chief of Staff, or the Chief of Space Operations, the Inspector General must look into and report on discipline, efficiency, and economy in the Department of the Air Force and carry out other duties they assign. The Inspector General must regularly propose inspection plans, recommend extra inspections or investigations, and fully cooperate with the Department of Defense Inspector General under chapter 4 of title 5 about Air Force matters.
