Title 14 › Subtitle SUBTITLE II— - PERSONNEL › Chapter CHAPTER 19— - COAST GUARD ACADEMY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - FACULTY › § 1945
Coast Guard professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and instructors follow the same rules for retirement and discharge as other commissioned officers, with a few exceptions. They are not required to retire under section 2149 and are not covered by section 2150. They may stay on past age 62 until age 64, when they must retire. The Secretary may retire a permanent commissioned teacher after 30 years’ active service. Civilian Academy teaching time plus earlier creditable military service counts toward retirement. Disability-in-line-of-duty retirement rules do not apply to temporary appointees.
