People, public bodies, and agencies (but not the armed forces) must not remove, move, block, attach to, or deliberately damage any navigation aid that the Coast Guard set up under section 541 or keeps under section 542. They also must not anchor a vessel in U.S. navigable waters so it blocks or interferes with range lights. Breaking this is a misdemeanor and can bring a fine of up to $1,500 for each offense. Each day the violation continues counts as a new offense.
