Coast Guard may help other government groups by using its people and equipment when properly asked. This includes Auxiliary members and facilities covered by chapter 39. The Commandant can set rules for that help, including requiring payment or other conditions. With another agency head’s OK, the Coast Guard may use that agency’s staff, advice, information, and facilities. If it uses state or local employees, it may pay travel and per diem the same way federal employees are paid under the Government’s standard travel rules.
