Title 15 › Chapter CHAPTER 43— - NEWSPAPER PRESERVATION › § 1802
Defines key words used in the chapter. Antitrust law means the Federal Trade Commission Act, the statutes called “Antitrust Acts” in section 4, their amendments, and other related antitrust laws. Joint newspaper operating arrangement means any contract, agreement, joint venture, or similar deal between two or more newspaper owners to publish two or more newspapers where they share production or act together on things like printing, schedule, distribution, advertising, circulation, business operations, pricing, or revenue sharing — so long as editorial staffs stay separate and editorial decisions remain independent. Newspaper owner means anyone who directly or indirectly controls one or more newspapers. Newspaper publication means a newsprint paper published at least once a week (a daily and its Sunday edition by the same owner in the same area count as one) with most content being news and opinion. Failing newspaper means a paper likely to suffer financial failure. Person means an individual or any legal business or entity formed under U.S., state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or foreign law.
