Title 15 › Chapter CHAPTER 16B— - FEDERAL ENERGY ADMINISTRATION › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - OFFICE OF ENERGY INFORMATION AND ANALYSIS › § 790g
The Director, acting for the Administrator, may get energy information held by any federal agency. Two exceptions apply: if a law clearly forbids sharing the information with another agency, or if the agency asks that it not be shared because doing so would seriously hurt the agency’s legal duties. If needed information is denied for those reasons, the Administrator or the Director must try to obtain it from the original source or another suitable source. That source must be told why the information is being requested.
