Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 36— - FOREST AND RANGELAND RENEWABLE RESOURCES PLANNING › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - PLANNING › § 1607
The Secretary must make sure National Forest renewable resources are managed under the multiple-use and sustained-yield ideas of the 1960 Act. Congress sets 2030 as the target to get restoration backlogs up to date and to have most planned intensive management actions in place and working in an environmentally sound way. Each year’s budget must ask for money to clear these backlogs, but the Secretary can reduce those requests if the backlog is gone, treating the rest would cost more than the benefits, or national supplies already meet future needs.
