Summary

The Secretary of the Interior must take full control of Lassen Volcanic National Park. He must, as soon as practical, write and publish rules to care for, protect, manage, and improve the park. The rules should let people enjoy the park while keeping timber, mineral deposits, and natural wonders as natural and unspoiled as possible. The Secretary must stop wanton killing or taking of fish and wildlife and may take other actions needed to carry out these goals under this law and sections 201 and 203. The Secretary may lease land in the park: up to 10 acres at one place to one person or company for up to 20 years for visitor buildings, and up to 1 acre for up to 20 years for summer homes or cottages for those who have or will build them. Leases can be renewed. No one gets exclusive rights except on leased land. Park rules must cover car use and reasonable grazing of livestock.
