Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XXII— - LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK › § 201
Creates and sets aside certain tracts of land in California (as described by the survey boundaries in the law) as Lassen Volcanic National Park. Those lands are taken out of public settlement, sale, or ordinary occupancy and are dedicated as a public park for the people of the United States. People who move onto or occupy these lands after the park is created must be treated as trespassers and removed, except as the law allows below. Any valid claim, location, or entry under United States land laws made before August 9, 1916 stays valid and the claimant keeps full use of their land. Private, municipal, or State lands inside the park that were owned before August 9, 1916 are not affected by this law or by sections 202 and 203. Lands inside the park that on August 9, 1916 were owned or claimed by a railroad or other company that had a right to make indemnity selections may not be used later as the basis for indemnity selection in any State or Territory.
