Within the Barataria Preserve Unit, the Secretary must allow hunting, fishing (including commercial fishing), and trapping on lands and water interests the Secretary manages, as long as federal and Louisiana laws are followed. The Secretary may set safety zones and times when those activities are not allowed, and except in an emergency, any new rules can only start after the Secretary talks with Louisiana’s fish and game agency.
