Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LII— - ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK › § 408i
The United States took full legal control over the land set aside for Isle Royale National Park in Michigan as of March 6, 1942, and over any land added later. Michigan can still serve legal papers inside the park for lawsuits or criminal charges tied to things that happened in Michigan outside the park. The State keeps the right to tax people, businesses, and property on park lands. People who live in the park keep the right to vote in their county. Anyone hiding from the law in the park is treated the same as a fugitive found elsewhere in Michigan.
