The Secretary of the Interior can set rules so money from Yellowstone National Park visitor revenues can be paid, in advance or later, to the school district or districts that serve the park. The money reimburses schools for buildings, services, and where needed school transportation for children of park workers who live on or near federal park land that is tax-exempt and where the United States does not make payments in lieu of taxes. Payments for any school year cannot be more than the share of the schools’ operating and maintenance costs that matches the share of average daily attendance made up by those park-worker children.
