Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LIX–F— - ALASKAN NATIONAL PARKS › § 410hh–2
The Secretary must manage the lands, waters, and related rights added as new National Park System areas, subject to valid existing rights, under the Act of August 25, 1916 (39 Stat. 535), as amended and supplemented (16 U.S.C. 1 et seq.), and, when appropriate, under section 3201 and other applicable law. Hunting is allowed in areas called national preserves. Local residents may use resources for subsistence in national preserves and, where this law specifically allows, in some national monuments and parks. Lands and waters that were set aside for the former Katmai and Glacier Bay National Monuments become part of Katmai National Park or Glacier Bay National Park, as appropriate. Any funds that were available for those monuments are now available for Katmai National Park and Preserve or Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, as appropriate. No fees may be charged for entrance or admission to any National Park System unit located in Alaska.
