Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXIII— - NATIONAL SEASHORE RECREATIONAL AREAS › § 459h–2
The Secretary must allow hunting and fishing on seashore lands and waters under federal and state law. The Secretary can set areas and times when hunting or fishing are not allowed for safety, wildlife or fish management, or so people can use and enjoy the park. Except in emergencies, any such rules must be made only after talking with the state agencies that handle hunting and fishing. No part of sections 459h through 459h–10 or any other law changes Mississippi’s rights or gives the Secretary power to regulate maritime activities, including non-seashore fishing like shrimping, in places that were outside the seashore boundary (including the buffer zone) on December 21, 2000.
