Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXX— - OZARK NATIONAL SCENIC RIVERWAYS › § 460m–1
The Secretary may buy land and land rights inside the designated area. Scenic easements can only be taken with the owner’s consent. Farm parcels of 500 acres or less next to the Current River or the Jacks Fork River that are mainly used for agriculture must be bought whole unless the owner agrees to sell part. Land bought outside the mapped boundary can be exchanged for land of about equal value inside. Missouri can sell its own lands there only with the State’s consent, and those lands may return to Missouri if kept for the National Scenic Riverway. Federal lands or water in the area will be put under the Secretary’s management, without transfer of funds, and administered as part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.
