Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 71A— - ATLANTIC STRIPED BASS CONSERVATION › § 5158
The Secretary must make rules for fishing Atlantic striped bass in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ). The rules must follow the national standards in section 301 of the Magnuson Act (16 U.S.C. 1851), be compatible with State plans and any Federal moratoriums in coastal waters, help State coastal rules work, and protect striped bass for the long term. The Secretary must consult the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the appropriate Regional Fishery Management Councils, and affected Federal, State, and local governments, review and update the rules as needed, and the Magnuson Act enforcement and penalty provisions in sections 307–311 (16 U.S.C. 1857–1861) apply.
