Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 2— - NATIONAL FORESTS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - ESTABLISHMENT AND ADMINISTRATION › § 539m
Creates the T’uf Shur Bien Preservation Trust Area in the Cibola National Forest. Congress notes the Pueblo of Sandia got a land grant in 1748 that was confirmed in 1858 (11 Stat. 374) and that the Pueblo sued the Interior and Agriculture Secretaries in 1994 (Civil No. 1:94CV02624), claiming some Cibola land was left out by federal surveys. The law’s goals are to set up the trust area; confirm which land is national forest or wilderness while resolving that suit and two Interior Department opinions (Dec. 9, 1988, M–36963; 96 I.D. 331; Jan. 19, 2001, M–37002); and provide a fair settlement for the Pueblo, the other parties, and the public.
