§6414 Authorization of appropriations

Summary

Provides $45,000,000 each year for fiscal years 2023 through 2027 to the Administrator to carry out this chapter. The money stays available until it is spent. Each year, $12,000,000 must go to section 6406 activities, $3,500,000 to section 6410 activities, and $4,500,000 to the cooperative institutes under section 6411(a). No more than 10% of those funds may be used for NOAA or Department of Commerce administration or overhead.

(a)There is authorized to be appropriated to the Administrator $45,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2023 through 2027 to carry out this chapter which shall remain available until expended. Of such amounts, there is authorized to be appropriated for each such fiscal year—
(1)$12,000,000 to carry out section 6406 of this title;
(2)$3,500,000 for activities authorized under section 6410 of this title; and
(3)$4,500,000 to be provided to the cooperative institutes designated under section 6411(a) of this title to carry out the functions described in such section.
(b)Not more than 10 percent of the amounts appropriated under subsection (a) may be used for program administration or overhead costs incurred by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or the Department of Commerce.
