Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 87— - FEDERAL LANDS RECREATION ENHANCEMENT › § 6806
The Treasury Department must set up a special account for each federal land management agency. Money that an agency collects under this law goes into its account and can be spent from that account until it is used up, without needing more permission from Congress. At least 80% of recreation fees and site-specific pass sales collected at a particular park or area must stay and be spent at that park or area. The Secretary can cut that share for a year, but not below 60%, if the money is more than the unit needs that year. Any leftover or other fees are available for agency-wide use under the Secretary’s rules. National park pass sales and regional multientity pass revenue go into agency accounts under the written guidelines or agreement.
