Summary

The land shown on the official map is named the Big Cypress National Preserve. The Secretary must run it as part of the National Park System and protect its natural and ecological condition forever under sections 698f to 698m–4 and the Act of August 25, 1916 (39 Stat. 535; 16 U.S.C. 1–4). The Secretary must make and publish rules in the Federal Register to limit or control uses such as motorized vehicles, oil, gas, and other mineral work, grazing, draining or building that changes water flow, farming, hunting, fishing, trapping, new construction, and other uses needed to meet the preserve’s goals. The Secretary must consult and cooperate with the Secretary of Transportation so required transportation is placed in existing or only reasonably widened rights-of-way and built to fit the preserve’s purposes.
