Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 9B— - NATIONAL FISH HATCHERY SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT › § 760aa–3
The Secretary of the Interior may approve projects or programs for a hatchery facility, but must follow the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (16 U.S.C. 661 et seq.) and other laws and set appropriate terms. Approved projects can help take care of habitat, do biological monitoring or research, build or maintain hatchery buildings and services, make and share educational materials, use the hatchery as an outdoor classroom, or raise money (sales, gifts, bequests) that must be used only for that hatchery. Money from these projects goes into a separate Treasury account. Funds tied to a specific hatchery may be spent by the Secretary, without further appropriation, to cover incidental volunteer expenses and to carry out cooperative agreements for that hatchery.
