Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 12C— - FORT PECK PROJECT › § 833q
Under rules set by the Secretary of the Army, money from the Fort Peck project funds in Montana can be paid to the local school district(s). The payments reimburse the district for school facilities (and, when appropriate, school transportation) provided to pupils who are dependents of people working on the project's construction, operation, or maintenance and who live on U.S. property at Fort Peck that is not taxed by state or local governments and for which the U.S. does not pay taxes in lieu. For any school year, the payment cannot exceed the share of the district’s operating cost that equals the fraction of average daily attendance made up by those pupils. The Bureau of Reclamation must reimburse the Secretary of the Army from the continuing fund in section 833i for the portion properly charged to operating expenses for generating and transmitting power delivered to the Bureau.
