Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XI— - MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK › § 91
Creates Mount Rainier National Park by setting aside certain lands in Washington. The park boundary starts 3 miles east of the northeast corner of township 17 north, range 6 east, then runs south through the centers of townships 17, 16, and 15 north in range 7 east for about 18 miles to a point 3 miles east of the northeast corner of township 14 north, range 6 east. It then goes east along the line between townships 14 and 15 for about 18 miles to a point 3 miles west of the northeast corner of township 14 north, range 10 east; then north about 18 miles to a point 3 miles west of the northeast corner of township 17 north, range 10 east. Where the Cascade Mountain summit is clearly defined and lies west of that east line, the boundary follows the summit. The line then runs west along the township line between townships 17 and 18 back to the starting point. The land is set aside as a public park for the benefit and enjoyment of the people. Anyone who lives on or occupies the land without authorization will be treated as a trespasser and removed, except where later rules allow otherwise.
