Bureau of Prisons officers and employees can make arrests without a warrant for certain crimes. They may arrest anywhere for offenses in 18 U.S.C. 111, 751, 752, or 28 U.S.C. 1826(c) (assaulting officers, escape, or helping someone escape). They may arrest on Bureau grounds or reservation land for crimes in 18 U.S.C. 661, 1361, 1363, 1791, 1792, and 1793 (theft, property damage, contraband, mutiny/riot, trespass). They may also arrest without a warrant for any other offense in title 18 or 21 if it happens on Bureau penal or correctional premises and the arrest is needed to protect security, good order, or government property.
