Title 18 › Part PART I— - CRIMES › Chapter CHAPTER 31— - EMBEZZLEMENT AND THEFT › § 660
It makes it a federal crime for a company leader (president, director, officer, or manager) or an employee riding on a carrier’s moving vehicle (railroad car, truck, steamboat, vessel, aircraft, or other vehicle) to steal, embezzle, misuse, or knowingly take any money, funds, credits, securities, property, or assets that come from or are used in interstate commerce. A person convicted can be fined under federal law, imprisoned for up to 10 years, or both. The crime is treated as happening where it first occurred and also in any district where the person took or had the money or property. If a state court already convicted or acquitted the person for the same act, the federal government cannot prosecute those same acts.
