Title 2 › Chapter CHAPTER 5— - LIBRARY OF CONGRESS › § 179o
The Board must review films people nominate for the National Film Registry and work with the Librarian under section 179m to decide which culturally, historically, or artistically important films should be included and preserved. It considers nominations from the public and from film groups (actors, directors, writers, cinematographers), producers, critics, archives, preservation groups, and film schools. The Board may add no more than 25 films each year. To do its job, the Board and Librarian can hold hearings, meet when and where needed, and accept testimony and evidence. The Librarian will appoint two members who will also serve on the National Film Preservation Foundation under section 151703 of title 36.
