Allows the Architect of the Capitol, if money is available, to get buildings (by buying, leasing, or other means) to serve as computer backup sites and related space for legislative offices. Any purchase or use must be approved by the House Office Building Commission for House offices, by the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration for Senate offices, and by the same body when other legislative offices join a House or Senate facility. Any building obtained this way becomes part of the United States Capitol Grounds and must follow sections 1922, 1961, 1966, 1967, and 1969 of this title and sections 5101 to 5107 and 5109 of title 40. If bought, the Architect may lease unused parts to others with approval from the same approving body. This rule applies for fiscal year 2002 and every year after.
