Title 2 › Chapter CHAPTER 9D— - OFFICE OF SENATE LEGAL COUNSEL › § 288b
Requires the Senate Counsel to act only with approvals. The Counsel may defend the Senate or its members only if two-thirds of the Joint Leadership Group agree or the Senate passes a resolution. Suing to enforce a Senate subpoena, or stepping into a court case in the Senate’s name, needs a Senate resolution. To obtain an immunity order, the full Senate must vote by majority of those present, or a committee must approve by two-thirds of its members. The Office must not recommend whether to consider these resolutions.
