The Sergeant at Arms can move money from the Senate’s “Salaries, Officers and Employees” and “Office of the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper” accounts into the Senate’s contingent fund for Office expenses if the Senate Appropriations Committee agrees. The transferred money can be used just like the other money in that contingent account. Fund — the Sergeant at Arms Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Fund, a special account under Contingent Expenses of the Senate. Sergeant at Arms — the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate. Money in the Fund is for Senate business continuity and disaster recovery. Before withdrawing certain appropriated amounts under section 4107, the Sergeant at Arms may transfer any unused, expired discretionary balances into the Fund, but must give the Appropriations Committee written notice at least 15 days before the withdrawal. Transferred amounts remain available until spent. This transfer authority and funding may be used for fiscal year 2022 and every year after, and money may be appropriated to the Fund as needed each year.
