The University and NTID are authorized to receive by gift, devise, bequest, purchase, or otherwise, property, both real and personal, for the use of the University or NTID, or for the use, as appropriate, for any programs, departments, or other units as may be designated in the conveyance or will, and to hold, invest, use, or dispose of such property for the purpose stated in the conveyance or will.

Prior Provisions

A prior section 202 of Pub. L. 99–371 was renumbered section 112 and is classified to section 4332 of this title. Provisions similar to subsec. (a) of this section were contained in section 691c of this title prior to repeal by Pub. L. 99–371.

Amendments

1992—Pub. L. 102–421, § 132, amended section generally. Prior to amendment, section read as follows: “(a) Gallaudet University.—Gallaudet University is authorized to receive by gift, devise, bequest, purchase, or otherwise, property, both real and personal, for the use of Gallaudet University, or for the use of any of its departments or other units as may be designated in the conveyance or will, and to hold, invest, use, or dispose of such property for the purpose stated in the conveyance or will. “(b) National Technical Institute for the Deaf.—The National Technical Institute for the Deaf is authorized to receive by gift, devise, bequest, purchase, or otherwise, property, both real and personal, for the use of the Institute, or for the use of any of its programs as may be designated in the conveyance or will, and to hold, invest, use, or dispose of such property for the purpose stated in the conveyance or will.”
