Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 21— - SETTLEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CLAIMS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - CLAIMS AGAINST BULGARIA, HUNGARY, RUMANIA, ITALY, AND THE SOVIET UNION › § 1641e
The Commission must publish in the Federal Register the start date and the filing deadline for claims under paragraphs (1)–(5) of section 1641b. For paragraphs (1)–(3) it must publish within 60 days after August 9, 1955, or within 60 days after Congress provides appropriations for those functions, whichever date comes later. The deadline for those claims cannot be more than one year after publication, except claims under section 1641d are limited to six months. For paragraph (4) it must publish within 30 days after July 24, 1968, or after appropriations are provided for that function, and the deadline cannot be more than six months after publication. For paragraph (5) it must publish within 30 days after October 20, 1974, or within 30 days after appropriations for that function, and the deadline cannot be more than six months after publication. A U.S. national who was mailed notice by a U.S. agency about filing a claim against Hungary under paragraphs (1)–(3), but did not get the notice because the agency used a nonexistent address, may still file a claim. The Commission must publish in the Federal Register, within 30 days after October 20, 1974, the filing deadline for those claims, which cannot be more than six months after that publication.
