Property-loss claims will only be looked at if the property was owned, fully or partly, by a U.S. national on the day it was lost. The claim must have stayed in the hands of one or more U.S. nationals without interruption up to the date it is filed. Disability claims can be filed by the disabled person or by whoever legally took over the claim. Death claims can be filed by the estate’s representative or by people claiming money losses from the death. The injured or deceased person must have been a U.S. national when hurt or killed, and the claim must have been held continuously by U.S. nationals until filing.
