§4609 Funding

Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 56— - UNITED STATES INSTITUTE OF PEACE › § 4609

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

Congress may provide whatever money is needed to carry out this chapter for fiscal years 2009 through 2014. Money provided for those years stays available until it is spent. The Board of Directors can move any unspent or uncommitted funds for a year to the legal entity created under section 4603(c). That money can be used later without being tied to a specific fiscal year, and the legal entity must report its use to both Houses of Congress and the President. The power to make contracts only applies for amounts and years that appropriation laws allow. Any authorization of funds is extended the same way as under section 1226a of title 20.
