Title 24 › Chapter CHAPTER 9— - HOSPITALIZATION OF MENTALLY ILL NATIONALS RETURNED FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES › § 325
Anyone admitted to a hospital under these rules must be examined by qualified hospital medical staff as soon as possible and no later than five days after admission. If the exam shows they do not need hospital care for a mental illness, they must be released. If they do need care, they must be checked again as often as possible but at least every six months, and be discharged or released with conditions once hospitalization is no longer needed. If a person is admitted under this law, the hospital must immediately notify their legal guardian, spouse, or next of kin, if known.
