Summary

The Secretary may, if the White Earth Band’s authorized governing body asks, swap land that was transferred to the United States under section 10(a)(1) for other land inside the White Earth Reservation owned by the United States, the State of Minnesota, or Minnesota local governments. No swap can happen unless everyone involved agrees.

The Secretary is authorized, if so requested by the authorized governing body of the White Earth Band, to exchange any of the land which is transferred to the United States as described in section 10(a)(1) for any other land within the exterior boundaries of the White Earth Reservation which is owned by the United States, the State of Minnesota, or any of the State’s political subdivisions. Nothing in this section shall be deemed to require an exchange not agreed to by all parties to the exchange.
