Title 25 › Chapter CHAPTER 25— - OLD AGE ASSISTANCE CLAIMS SETTLEMENT › § 2301
Defines three words used in this chapter. "Secretary" means the Secretary of the Interior. "Unauthorized disbursement" means a payment taken from a deceased Indian’s trust estate that the Secretary paid to a State or a part of a State to repay old-age assistance given to that Indian before death in violation of federal rules about Indian trust property. Except for use in section 2303, it also includes reimbursements listed in the Federal Register published April 17, 1985, at page 15290 of volume 50, as modified November 13, 1985, at page 46835 of volume 50, or the list published March 31, 1983, at page 13698 of volume 48, as modified November 7, 1983, at page 51204 of volume 48. "Trust estate" means the part of an estate made up of land or other property held by the United States for the Indian’s benefit, or property that cannot be sold or transferred without the Secretary’s permission.
