§3402 — Title 25 Indians | U.S. Code

Summary

Sets the meanings of key words used in the chapter. "Federal agency" means the same as "agency" in section 551(1) of title 5. "Indian tribe" and "tribe" mean what "Indian tribe" means in section 5304 of this title and include tribal organizations as defined there. "Indian" means what section 5304(d) of this title says. "Program" means a program described in section 3404(a) of this title. Except where a different meaning is given, "Secretary" means the Secretary of the Interior.

For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions apply:

(2)(A)The terms “Indian tribe” and “tribe” have the meaning given the term “Indian tribe” in section 5304 of this title.

(B)The term “Indian tribe” includes tribal organizations (as defined in section 5304 of this title).

(3)The term “Indian” shall have the meaning given such term in section 5304(d) of this title.

(4)The term “program” means a program described in section 3404(a) of this title.

(5)Except where otherwise provided, the term “Secretary” means the Secretary of the Interior.
