Indian owners may lease trust or restricted land on the San Xavier and Salt River Pima‑Maricopa reservations in Arizona with Secretary approval for many public, private, or resource uses, but not for activities covered by federal mining‑lease laws. Grazing leases can run up to 10 years; farming leases up to 10 years or up to 40 years if a substantial investment is needed; other leases up to 99 years. Renewals can't extend these limits. The Secretary must not approve longer terms than needed to obtain maximum economic benefits for Indian owners.
