Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

Support State efforts to improve access to assistive technology for people with disabilities of all ages, including groups that are often left out. States must run statewide programs that do things like increase the availability, funding, access, and knowledge of assistive technology devices and services; help people keep their devices when they move between school, service programs, or daily settings; build the ability of public agencies and private groups to provide and pay for assistive technology across the State; involve people with disabilities and, when needed, their families or representatives in decisions; improve coordination among State, local, and private organizations; promote changes in laws, policies, and practices that make assistive technology easier to get; and raise general awareness of the benefits of assistive technology. Provide States and protection and advocacy systems with financial help for programs that help people with disabilities and their families, guardians, advocates, or authorized representatives obtain assistive technology devices and services.
