The Secretary of the Interior must use the U.S. Bureau of Mines to set up, supply, and run a research lab in Pennsylvania’s anthracite coal region. The lab will study mining, processing, and uses of anthracite coal, find new scientific and technical uses and markets, and serve as a center for information and help on conserving resources for national defense, better mining methods, and mine safety, health, and sanitation.
